Connecting Art & Law for Liberation

Please save the date of April 16-17, 2021 for UCLA’s virtual Connecting Art & Law for Liberation (CALL) Festival, a collaboration between the UCLA Prison Education Program, UCLA School of Law’s Criminal Justice Program and the Prison Law & Policy Program. The CALL Festival will connect artists, activists, attorneys, advocates, and scholars for a Virtual Conference featuring innovative collaborations at the intersection of art and the law! We will build community, re-energize and play, while developing visionary strategies to end mass incarceration–with participants from college campuses, community, and carceral spaces.

I’m reaching out to share that we are:

  1. Currently seeking proposals for workshops, performances, and film/video screenings for the CALL Festival, which are due December 21, 2020. Please click here for more information on how to submit a proposal and feel free to share with your networks!
  2. Looking for social media content creators to join our CALL planning committee! Our social media team will be responsible for generating social media content and designing our website (current website here: https://www.calltoactionucla.com/ ).  Responsibilities may include:
  • Gathering photos, bios from conference speakers, panelists and fellows
  • Developing a media strategy with the rest of the planning committee to spread the word about the festival before the event
  • Documenting/taking photos during the event to add to Instagram/Facebook pages
  • Communicating with community and conference participants about media-related issues
  • Other duties as needed
