ArtWallah LA will be hosted in Santa Monica on June 1 & 2, 2018 and we’re looking for South Asian youth to submit their work (any medium) for the gallery space for the two day event.
Founded in Downtown LA during summer of 1998, the festival showcases innovative works that express the personal, political, and cultural celebrations and struggles of the South Asian diaspora through music, dance, performance, literature, film, the visual arts, and dialogic workshops. There is also special programming for children, a morning session called, Kidwallah LA. It is an all-volunteer run event. In 2017, there were approximately 150 attendees. The second revival year continues the aim to rebuild itself as a platform through which established and new artists express South Asian culture and its transformational nature through art.The festival offers community members, regardless of racial or ethnic backgrounds, an authentic look into the lived experiences of the South Asian community.
