Qualifications:
By August 21, 2018 an MFA in Art is required; emphasis in Photography and/or Video required. Demonstrated experience and continued commitment to working with a diverse student population is required. Professional experience in Photography and/or Video and two years teaching experience in Photography and/or Video at college or university level is highly desired. Ideal candidates will be exhibiting, published, and/or commercial artists with the ability to teach technical Photography/Video skills, including digital applications and studio lighting. Candidates should demonstrate teaching competency in both Photography and Video and working knowledge of contemporary Photography/Video discourse through professional artwork and student artwork. At time of appointment, the successful candidate, if not a U.S. citizen, must have authorization from the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services to work in the United States.
Responsibilities:
Faculty responsibilities include teaching digital photography, studio lighting, and video to undergraduate and graduate students; assisting in the development and growth of the Photography/Video area; participating in MFA and MA degree programs; advising and recruiting undergraduate and graduate students; building professional partnerships for department funding, student internships, and job placement; serving on Department, College, and University committees; and maintaining creative/professional contributions. CSUN is a Learning Centered University committed to student success; the ideal candidate will be expected to join faculty and staff in their commitment to active learning, assessment of learning outcomes, and multiple pathways that facilitate students’ graduation.
