I’m the website consultant for the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music. I’m also consulting on an eCommerce website for Jake Rajas, a New York based photographer with a career that spans over 35 years. Specializing in travel photography, Jake is best known for stunning and timeless architectural and landscape imagery.
Jake has over seventeen art books currently in print. He has created award-winning photographs that have been featured in more than 10,000 publications including, Time, Life, Newsweek, The New York Times, Esquire, Town and Country, Men’s Heath, Condé Nast Traveler, Geo, and National Geographic. His fine art prints are in museums and private collections worldwide.
We are looking for a School of the Arts student (Art and Design/Media Arts) who is looking for intern work.
The intern would have an interest in photography, media, as well as eCommerce and the internet. The intern candidate should have as many of the following skills and interests as possible. While the below list specifies what we are looking for, we are open to considering any candidate who has an enthusiasm to this type of project.
We are using the Shopify eCommerce shopping cart system for the new site, soon to be launched.
Intern candidate’s skills would include:
1) Managing and organizing photography images, in preparation for upload to the site. We have hundreds of photo images awaiting for this this type of processing. The person will resize, crop the images as needed, etc. Basic knowledge of Photoshop is required.
2) Uploading the images to the website, via the Shopify administrator back end system. The intern will set up each product for sale on the site, including the product description and related information, such as the price of each photo. The title, description, pricing, etc. will be prepared by Jake and his associate in a Word document or spreadsheet. I will train the person how to use the Shopify admin system, and will be available for any questions.
The intern’s work would involve phone conversations and email contact with myself, Jake and his associate.
3) If the intern has demonstrated experience in copy writing then that will also be useful, but not required. Writing may include updating Jake’s autobiography, possible ongoing web page content, perhaps a future blog. At some point we may want to to set up a web email-based newsletter promoting the site.
During all of this I will be providing guidance and relevant instruction in the Shopify eCommerce system, as needed, for this ongoing project.
Shopify is a leading eCommerce platform, and working on the site will provide the intern with valuable hands-on experience in eCommerce. The person will be involved in the launch of the new website and possible ongoing involvement during their internship.
Best regards,
